Welcome to the Archetypes Project

The Archetypes Project is an ongoing attempt to accessibly describe and document the major Archetypes. In essence, the Archetypes Project is a database and description of archetypal patterns.

What are Archetypes? “Archetype” comes from the Greek arkhē "beginning, origin, first place" + typos "model, type, blow, mark of a blow" (see Etymonline). Therefore, an Archetype is an original model or form from which instances of a form are derived. While the term was popularized by C.G. Jung to mean psychological, embodied forms - Archetypes extend beyond psychology to the “trans-jective” space where individuals relate to reality; they are 'names’ of our relations with reality.

Key Ideas

  • What is an Archetype?

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
