The Year 2025

The year is 2025.

In the wake of Coronavirus, humanity has had a reawakening.

When the shelter in place order was called across the United States, many people were afraid. For a time, an uneasiness remained. The virus is an invisible threat, and proving you weren’t a carrier was difficult. A working vaccine was at least year away and nobody knew how effective if would prove to be.

But as the threat began to lift and the world started to wake up, slowly humanity started working again. People returned to what they were comfortable with. Change is not easy. Something had changed.

In our homes, humanity paused and mapped its trajectory. We planted the seeds of change to grow into the society we envision.

Humanity looked at where work and industry were leading society. Where being busy for busy's sake was taking us. We began to reevaluate how we wanted to live.

One by one humans began to live life as they wished the society they wanted to live in should reflect.

We see a world that respects each other and connects more deeply. Our lives changed when we put more effort into our relationships, communities, and by extension, the world.

The machines that always sought higher profit margins began to slow as people realized what we need to live meaningful lives is not given to us through material objects.

A restructuring of what we consider wealth began. We began investing time in what is meaningful beyond monetary reward.. Wealth in terms of currency can evaporate at any given moment. Currency is an incentive and in the end more can always be used to further your goals but not intrinsically necessary to live meaningfully.

The Pandemic became known as The Great Pause in much the same way our great grandparents lived during The Great Depression.

Many of us had been raised by Baby Boomers who's parents wanted to forget about the horrors of war. Our parents live in some the post prosperous post-war decades but also some of the worst cultural upheaval.

We took the time to not point the finger at those around us. We first looked inside ourselves and asked, "How to can I seek to understand myself first?"

The answer is that the only way to create a better society is to take responsibility for their actions and growth in the world. When you are aware of yourself, you are more connected with others.

When you are aware of yourself, you see yourself in others. No matter how different you may seem. You realize that deep down, we are all more similar than we had thought.

In much the same way a virus spread, this new idea of awareness began to spread.

The United States of America was founded on the premise for people to live in freedom. They held those truths to be self-evident as set by the constitution, but we had lost our way. With almost 8 billion people on the planet, they couldn't escape to a far off land to start over.

With no other option, they turned to a new domain, one still evolving along with side them. A virtual domain that could theoretically be limitless and boundless

The Internet.

They began to use the internet as fertile soil for these new ideas. They believed that if the ideas work, it will resonate, and people would take it upon themselves to contribute to a better society.

They would be the champion of those ideals. They would feel more empowered, and so would those around them. There was no need to call it a movement or give it a name.

They let their actions speak for themselves.

In the Year 2025, we have learned from our mistakes from The Great Pause. We have created a better society. How did we get there?
