Worth Listening

Seth Godin on The Game of Life, The Value of Hacks, and Overcoming Anxiety (#476) |Tim Ferriss

"If we start by acknowledging that our attitudes are skills and that skills are learnable, suddenly talent recedes far into the rear view mirror."

Seth Godin has an endless amount of wisdom. For me, his talent is being able to distill his thoughts. He doesn't over complicate what he's trying to get across. In this conversation, I was struck by his thoughts on being creative and working. This podcast partially inspired some of my thinking on last week's podcast.

What You'll Wish You'd Known | Paul Graham

"In the graduation-speech approach, you decide where you want to be in twenty years, and then ask: what should I do now to get there? I propose instead that you don't commit to anything in the future, but just look at the options available now, and choose those that will give you the most promising range of options afterward."

Is the Earth an organism? | Aeon

In this article, the author explores the Gaia hypothesis. Is the meaning the earth one massive self-regulating system to perpetuate life? As we understand more of the complexities of the planet, this hypothesis looks more and more enticing. I am skeptical that emergent properties mean that somehow a system as large as the Earth and its ecosystems is delicately tuned. One aspect that blows my mind is now considered the Wood wide web or the mycelial network that connects forests. So for me, the jury is still out.

Worth Watching

The Food that Built America | History Channel (IMDBAmazon Prime

This miniseries explores the unique characters that built some of America's and, by extension, the world's most recognizable brands. Viewers get a behind the scenes look at how Kellogg, McDonald's, and more became household names. What feels like destiny to us today, having grown up with these foods in houses, is fascinating looking at how they were brought into the world. I was hooked from start to finish.

Worth Pondering

"That best portion of a good man's life—His little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love."

William Wordsworth
